Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

 

Purpose Statement

The painter shall provide painting services with specific responsibilities for identifying repair and maintenance needs; preparing, painting, staining and/or wallpapering a variety of surfaces. Ensure completion of projects in accordance to trade standards and maintain facilities in a safe, usable and attractive condition.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Paint a variety of building surfaces (masonry, drywall, plaster, stucco and EIFS) with brush and/or roller.
  • Properly prepare surfaces, including masonry, drywall and/or plaster repairs, as necessary to ensure they are ready for painting and/or refinishing.
  • Evaluate condition of surfaces and identify necessary repairs and/or preventative maintnenace for facilities.
  • Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete projects as assigned.
  • Dailly coordination with supervisor and/or other trades as necessary to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Self motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision during evening hours (2:30PM-11:00PM).
  • Move furniture and equipment within schools and/or school district.
  • Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Remove graffiti from surfaces in order to minimize vandalism and maintain attractive facilities.
  • Proficient in removal and installation of wallpapers and surface preparation.
  • Participate in team meetings, and seminars as necessary to maintain certifications.
  • Work from ladders and/or lifts to access elevated areas to be painted.
  • Assist other maintenance staff as needed.
  • Assist in snow and ice removal activities as assigned.

 

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of job related experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff
  • Basic technological skills

Education/Certification

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Class E drivers license
  • EPA Lead Certification preferred 

Miscellaneous Requirements

Clearances

      Background clearance required, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: work independantly in the evening (2:30PM – 11:00 PM) with minimal supervision, independently complete projects, lifting of more than 50 pounds, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, climbing and balancing, working from ladders or lifts, frequent stooping or kneeling and steady hand for finish application.
