JOB TITLE:      Collaborative Pianist and Assistant Choral Director

REPORTS TO:  Principal and/or Supervisor

Jefferson City High School is searching for a dynamic and accomplished pianist and choral director to fill the role of Collaborative Pianist and Assistant Choral Director.  While a large part of this role is providing piano support for rehearsals, concerts and performances, you will also have the opportunity to teach collaboratively during the rehearsals and one on one with students as they prepare solos and ensembles for contest.  Additional teaching in classes like Music Appreciation, Jazz, Pop and Rock and potentially class piano, may be required depending upon curricular offerings.

You will assist the Choral Director in the ongoing administrative duties required to run a choral program.  Those responsibilities will include assisting in music selection, assessment of the students in the program, participation in the completion of administrative duties, and promoting the department to the parents and the public at large. The Jefferson City High School Choral program consists of three choirs -Chorale, a mixed voice SATB auditioned ensemble, Bella Voce, a female auditioned ensemble, and Concert Choir, a non-auditioned mixed group.  An additional non-curricular group is sometimes met before or after school for special performances.

The program enjoys excellent public and administrative support and its annual Capitol Caroling performance in Missouri’s impressive capitol building has just completed its 86th performance.  Chorale has an impressive history of excellence with numerous and consistent top ratings at MSHSAA contests, consistent membership in All-State Choir, and former graduates who have become music educators in their own right.

Compensation is competitive with the district adding significant increases in the base recently with plans for future additions.  Also, stipends are provided for work as the Assistant Choral director and extra-curricular ensemble.  Additionally, there are opportunities for additional income playing for musicals both within the school and also the community.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest highlighting your skills and preparation as they apply to the job duties, a resume’/vita, and three letters of recommendation with contact info from individuals who are familiar with your work and skill sets.  Audio or video of your playing/teaching may be requested at a later date.
