POSITION TITLE:  Building Systems Specialist

REPORTS TO:       Assistant Facilities Director

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.

 

PURPOSE: This position will monitor energy efficiency programs and special inspections District wide. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: management of energy efficiency programs and initiatives, performing essential inspections of District equipment and reports, assisting with implementing energy savings measures on renovations and new construction, completion of projects and work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision; assisting other skilled trades; maintaining District tools and equipment in an acceptable manner.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Monitors energy efficiency (electrical, water, BAS system & schedule) District wide in order to maintain energy efficiency and identify cost reducing measures for implementation.

Performs periodic inspections on a variety of District equipment including but not limited to elevator fire service and yearly inspections, bleachers, athletic equipment, playground equipment, asbestos, generators and inverters to ensure safe operation of District equipment and facilities.

Collaborates with District Facilities staff for implementing measures to reduce utility usage and improve efficiency.

Participates in renovation and new construction projects concerning the design of school and support facilities to maximize resource efficiency.

Assist other trades in tasks as necessary.

Responds to emergency situations during and after hours in order to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions.

Maintain District resources (truck, tools, equipment etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion.

Assist with snow removal, which may occur outside normal working hours.

Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving furniture, chairs, risers and other District resources as requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Class E drivers license, with good driving history.

Good work attitude with a positive and pleasant disposition.

Self-starter; able to work independently.
